For teeth with minor cosmetic issues, porcelain veneers can be a great solution. Veneers are thin sheets of tooth-colored porcelain that are secured to the front of a tooth, concealing imperfections. Our cosmetic dentists are always happy to answer any questions you might have about porcelain veneers.
What Can Veneers Fix?
Veneers are a popular cosmetic dentistry option due to their versatility. They can repair a variety of cosmetic issues, including:
- Chipped or broken teeth
- Small gaps between teeth
- Short teeth
- Misshapen teeth
- Stains or discoloration
Veneers are custom-made to match the shade of your teeth, so if you’re interested in teeth whitening treatments, you’ll need to have that done before your veneers are applied. If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your smile, ask our cosmetic dentists if veneers are right for you.
The Veneers Procedure
Before we can permanently secure your veneers, our dentists will need to remove a small amount of tooth enamel so that the veneers will lay flat against the rest of your teeth.
We will then create your veneers and make any last-minute adjustments to color, shape, or size. After this, the veneers will be bonded to the fronts of your teeth. The procedure is quick with little to no recovery time, and you should be able to eat and drink normally immediately after your appointment.
Veneers are more stain-resistant than your natural tooth enamel, but it’s still important to avoid foods and drinks that stain your teeth. Otherwise, your natural teeth will stain and the color of your veneers will no longer be a perfect match.
With proper care, you can expect your veneers to last for 10 or more years. If your veneer chips or breaks, we can repair or replace it for you.
